Good or Evil?

What is good and evil? What is justice and what is VILE? What truly is the best and the worst things humanity can offer? Well there's a problem when asking such questions and that's the mere fact that morals and ethics are all so subjective.

Take for example murder. Murder is defined as the unlawful killing of a person but in every day language, murder is killing someone for an unjust reason. The legality of any of these things doesn't matter because it is still wrong or passable, and the question being answered is "What is good and evil?" It seems as though murder is clear cut, it's wrong. Any form of killing is wrong. But what about someone with a disability who murdered, are they evil? What about someone who was young and pressured by their parent, or was raised in such a hostile environment, are they evil? What about a hit man trying to afford enough to eat is he or she evil? what if it was someone killing for equality? Is it still murder if it was an accident? Is it murder to send someone to death even if they truly did despicable and horrible things? Is it murder even if it's a fetus? I have named a few scenarios and you may all have answers to each one of them. But you can be certain that everyone has a different set of answers given different scenarios. Let's expand on the idea of the death penalty. Is it good or evil to kill someone even if that someone did very evil things themselves? There is no answer; It depends on who you are. One side says it's murder because killing anyone who is defenseless is wrong. The other side feels like the only justice given to this culprit is by giving them the same treatment as they did to others. Both sides have reasons that are understandable but neither side is objectively and undoubtedly true because there is nothing so strong and above us that can say it is good or evil.

Many people try to act high and mighty saying that because they have a religion, they have a better authority of good and evil. They say that when someone who is secular or Atheistic has an idea it's not objective so it's not important. This is a lazy way of dismissing someone who has a different opinion than the religious. However no religion ever will have all the answers and even if they did, the person who holds this belief has as much ground as an Atheist because the secular and the religious both have the same authority but different mind sets. I do not suggest learning about morality in a bible because you won't get all the answers.

Many people take the ideas of their parents, friends, or leaders, to try and see what is good and evil. This however still is not helpful when trying to find out what is good and evil. One mind set and view on life doesn't work in all ways and to everyone. With so many people in this world having one mindset will never appease everyone and we will never find one moral code that everyone can agree on. Taking moral codes from others also makes you less human, as people we are meant to be learning and creating ideas. People can not stick to the same thing everyone agrees with because it is only natural to have someone find a flaw in any moral code. And it is best for this to happen because that is our human nature.

So what is good and what is evil? Where is the answer? Who holds this answer? Well... You. You, my reader, hold the answer. You know what is good and evil because nothing is good and evil outside you. This may scare you because nothing is real now. Now anyone and everyone has a moral code. Now even the dictators have a say in their own way of good and evil. But even if it's unsettling, good and evil don't exist in our plane of reality they exist in you, and in me. People, humans, us, we created morality and we slowly built it up. We all created this abstract concept of good and evil which makes us so special and different from animals. So why do our ancient ancestors make our moral codes? Reader, you are the creator of morality alongside everyone else. So reader, choose wisely because society will still have it's revoltion against your ideas. To me, in some scenarios, it could be called for! But who am I to tell you about morality when morality is abstract?
